I was just chilling out the other evening, (I had just finished watching some stupid French movie about breaking out from prison) and was having a last cigarette with Radio Nova on.
Nova is so good for playing stuff you wouldn’t expect, at the most random time and bringing tracks out of the blue. This time it was Rodion and the tune was just perfect for a 1am cigarette I tell you.

We rocked the dancefloor at Panic Room with Amour Polaroid on the 17th of July- and this is what it looked like.

I have a friend, let’s call her A, she’s going out with this boy called B, but she told me that when she was still single, there was a guy called C that she liked, and she thought he liked her too.
Despite the obvious attraction, nothing ever happened, so she got together with B, kind of forgot about the other dude, and C even got himself a girlfriend.
But every now and then C pops back into her life and she feels like a little girl when she seems him, she tries very hard to act casual, keeps touching her hair and she probably even blushes when he leans over to speak to her.
But anyway, she asked me what should she do, leave B that she’s perfectly happy with and maybe pursue something that will never happen? Or forget about C forever and wonder every day what it could have been like?
Mate, I’m no agony aunt, so I told her something cheesy like ‘follow your instinct’, and then it reminded me of The Flirts for some reason.
When I feel like going to a club or listen to some good bangers at home, I know there’s one person to call and that is Romain. Yeah I should totally pay respect to my friends more. Here are some tunes that we share/remind me of good vibes.
Don Rimini – Nervous Breakdown
There’s a track that I like but I’m not sure whether I really should.
It’s ‘fa-fa-fa’ by Datarock.
So catchy, so good for getting ready in the morning! Then what do I have the feeling that this song is also a bit cheesy?
Surely with a name like Datarock, there has to be something wrong with this band. . .
Since I left London last year and came back to Paris, I had been brewing the idea of having a little party somewhere to play sexy//disco//italo//cold// tunes.
Well now it’s happening. This Friday!
Arthur and myself have selected our finest records and are ready to make you dance all night.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this little handcrafted mix I made to give you a flavour of what we’ll be spinning at Panic Room.
See you there!

My grandmother used to say to me, “I keep my enemies close, but my friends even closer”. (She also used to say a lot of stuff along the lines of “always have your hair nicely done” or “the more when you go after a man, the more he will try to avoid you”)
As a kid I didn’t really understand why she would say that, but as I grew up I totally got the meaning of the sentence, and especially when I lived in London it became relevant.
I love this track so much still and always put it on at parties; it reminds me of all the times I sort of got into fights with girls. Now I’m older and wiser I guess I won’t be doing that anymore.

When summer comes and I am in Paris, all I can dream of is nice sandy beaches, palm trees, hot sun, relaxing afternoons and exotic food. Well for the past two weeks, as I’ve been spending some time with the family in Martinique, this is exactly what I got.
But now I find myself longing for Paris’ paved streets, the crowds of the Marais, a cold beer whilst sitting by Point FMR, the excitement of watching dawn rise after a long night dancing, my favourite Vietnamese/Japanese/Italian restaurants, the simple ability of going from A to B without a car.

Don’t get me wrong, Martinique is lovely and I’ve enjoyed the company of my grandmother and various cousins, but I always seem to be coveting the opposite of what I actually have. I know some people hate it, but I find July and August a great time to be in Paris because it’s not as crowded. When I lived in London I never got that impression. . . do people actually take holidays there? ! (ok the French are a bit lazy but still. . . . )
Apart from sitting down with the bf to finish watching the Sopranos and maybe get started on Twin Peaks, there are some things that are making me excited about spending summer in Paris:
-The Martin Parr exhibition at the Jeu de Paume
-Parties on the Concorde Atlantique, brunch at the Bellevilloise, drinks at people’s houses. . .
-My birthday
-The last week of the sales
-Woody Allen meeting Larry David on screen, erm hello, dream team alert.
-Bastille day
-“Amour Polaroid”, on the 17th of July, at Panic Room! More to come on this soon.
Parisian at heart, Parisian always. Here are some tracks to celebrate my coming back into town in 3 days.
